THE RIGHT COVID TEST AT THE RIGHT TIME
COVID 19 VIRUS TESTING: BowTie Medical (BTM) utilizes molecular in-vitro tests for detection of SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA or its nucleocapsid antigens. These diagnostic tests are intended to diagnose infection with COVID-19 virus at the individual level and is performed when there is reason to suspect that an individual may be infected, such as having symptoms or a recent exposure to someone who has been infected. The optimal time frame for conducting these tests is 3-5 days since potential exposure.
COVID 19 ANTIBODY TESTING: The presence of antibodies indicates an individual may have had previous exposure to COVID-19, with or without symptoms. The Center for Disease Control reports that if antibodies are present in your system, “the evidence suggests that likely infectiousness is greatly decreased and that some degree of immunity from future infection has developed.” Recent research shows antibodies remain present for at least 4 months after infection. The appropriate testing time frame for detection of antibodies is 5 days to 3 months from the time of potential exposure. The graph below depicts estimate of time frames for virus or antibody tastings.
